- Adopted on December 27, 1979
- 1,780 acres
- Located southwest of downtown Fairfield along the Highway 12 corridor
One of the most significant contributions the Redevelopment Agency has made to this Project Area was assisting in the construction of Highway 12, which allowed for the development of Busch Corporate Center and Solano Business Park, the City’s two largest business and industrial parks. The two business parks offer a mix of office and industrial uses with a focus on manufacturing, and in particular food processing.
The Agency assisted numerous companies in locating or expanding in the business parks, including Jelly Belly Candy Company, Guittard Chocolate, NRE World Bento, Professional Hospital Supply, ABCO Laboratories, Amcor PET Packaging, Engelhart Gourmet Foods and Abbott Laboratories / Ross Division. The Redevelopment Agency also facilitated the development of the City’s Auto Mall in this Project Area.
The City is currently in the process of preparing a Master Plan for the West Texas Street corridor, also located in this project area. With preparation of the West Texas Street Master Plan, the City will begin pursuing measures to visually enhance and encourage the renewal of this area. The Master Plan includes an urban design element, which is to be funded by a Metropolitan Transportation Commission TLC planning grant, as well as associated economic development and redevelopment studies.
